New York City Pauses Student-Facing Generative AI Through Grade 8

New York City announced a one-year moratorium on student-facing generative AI for students through eighth grade. High schools will add twice-yearly AI literacy lessons and limited, educator-supervised pilots, while companion chatbots will be prohibited across all grades. Teachers may still use AI for planning and operational work.

Google Expands Its Free, Bite-Sized AI Training for Educators

UNESCO Puts Human Agency at the Center of Digital Learning Week

UNESCO's Digital Learning Week, scheduled for September 8–11, will examine synthetic knowledge, autonomous AI systems, digital sovereignty, public-interest AI, and analogue or community-led alternatives. Its stated goal is to keep human agency, equity, and the public purpose of education central.
